Athletic Bilbao continued to enjoy life away from La Liga as they downed big-spending PSG on Thursday to move three points clear at the top of Europa League Group F.
Athletic have picked up just two points from their opening five league games under new coach Marcelo Bielsa but they defeated Slovan Bratislava in their Europa League group opener and on Thursday night claimed the prized scalp of in-form PSG.
Igor Gabilondo's brilliant finish put Athletic ahead in the 20th minute and Markel Susaeta slotted home a similar goal on the stroke of half-time to complete the scoring, with PSG's challenge all but ending with the 53rd-minute dismissal of Mohamed Sissoko.
